Why Did God Make Women

Before I got married, I sat around with a few of my best friends and we figured out part of why God made women.  It really wasn’t rocket science, as a-matter-of-fact by our reckoning if we didn’t have women we would not have rockets, cars, electricity, houses or probably even fire.  Here is how our theory goes:

If there were just men on this planet, we would still be living in caves and eating raw meat.  I mean, I’m good with that!

If it weren’t for meeting the woman that I married, I would probably be on the road travelling, living each day as it comes and really not very concerned about the next day.  After being released from the military, I did this for a while and really enjoyed it.

Then after I met my future wife, I started thinking that I needed to finish school, get a job, buy a house, provide for the kids, etc.  It really was a life changer!  Now don’t take me wrong, it was a good change, but without women, would we be where we are today?  I don’t think so.

There is a reason that God gave us women.  God made man and at first He let us be.  Then when God came back to check on us later, he realized that we didn’t grow or develop and that we were not making use of the resources that he had provided us and that something was missing.  That is when he made women!  Women motivated us.  It started simple at first, with words so that we could communicate.  Before women, men were probably content with just grunting and pointing.  Then, once women had us communicating, she was able to talk to us and ask questions like, “It’s cold in here, why can’t we build a fire?”  “The neighbors are cooking their food, doesn’t it smell good?”  “I want a fur coat!”  Anyway, you get the picture.

This process continued until we had houses, running water and now electricity.  It was so effective that it has actually started to self-perpetuate itself.  Now days, some men want the newest big screen TV to watch their football games on.  They want a fast car or maybe a boat.

While I’m a little different than most men, I don’t care about TV or a lot of fancy things.  I love camping in the mountains and the swamp and generally being out in the open most of the time.  However, I do see the advantage of having houses.  Houses are especially important as I get older.  Sometimes it does get cold and we can’t all live in a hammock on a beach in the tropics.  (I tried this once, it was nice.)  The caves would be really crowded now days too.  I think housing is probably what started the first wars.  Of course we wouldn’t have overcrowding if there were only men.    Well, I didn’t say that we figured it all out.  Guess that God may have another plan for us.

Hunting and Fishing are Meditation

As a kid, meditation was not something that I was interested in.  Now I wish that I could spend days in the woods or next to the water.  As a child I did spend days at these activities and looking back, during these periods, I was at peace with nature.  It just seemed right!  I never really considered it, but these were some of the most relaxing times of my life.  These activities provided me plenty of time in silent self-reflection to develop myself.

Now I see so many kids on medication to “help them” with their personalities and to “calm them down.”  My experience with my own children is that if you can get them outdoors, they will adjust themselves.  My oldest son is homeschooled and I know that when he spends time hunting or walking his dog, he is able to come home and settle in to his schoolwork much better than if you just wake him up and set him to it.  Our youngest son is even more hyperactive but he can take a fishing pole down to the creek and stand still for hours.  In my Scout Troop, I have parents “warn” me about their kids and then when I take the kids out in the woods, they do great!

It may be a relatively small sample group, but my observations lead me to believe that we really don’t need to be giving our kids all the medications that are prescribed these days.  Instead we should be taking them outside, in nature and letting them find their own interest and constructive ways to expend their energy.  I know that if you made me sit in a class room all day, I would have a hard time.  Honestly, hunting and fishing are great examples of active meditation, which improve a person’s ability to develop themselves.

Live Free!

Back to work!  I actually really enjoy working for the company that I work for.  The people are great and the company is well run.  (That is why I choose to work here 12 years ago.)  The thing that I don’t like is paying taxes.  It seems like I am paying someone to violate my rights.  The government supports all sorts of things that I would never put my own money towards.  I am very generous with my time and money.  I do not need the government to do it for me.  I spend many hours every month with Scouting, Church and other organizations plus the money that I contribute.  The U.S. has some of the most generous people in the world!  However, if you look at State and Federal income tax (~35%), plus sales tax, plus property tax, plus fuel tax (why do I have to pay the State and County $85/year to heat my own house???)  The list of taxes go on and I by the time that you put them all together, I figure that I pay 50% in taxes every year!

Honestly, I see taxes as a form of slavery.  We don’t pay them willingly.  If we don’t pay the IRS is quick to inform you that you will be prosecuted.  How is this different than slavery?  The government is the slave owner and they decide what you can keep and what you have to pay them.

Do you know how much good I could do for my family and the community if I had that money in my own account instead of the governments?  Did you know that before 1913, except for a couple short periods for specific purposes, there was no income tax?  I could site this, but won’t because I really think that this is common knowledge.  Anybody can check it by just Googling it, if they don’t already know this.

So, when was our countries greatest growth?  The 1800’s!  For the last hundred years we have made some good advances, but really we were riding the momentum of the first hundred years, as I see it.  During that time the world went from struggling to feed ourselves, living in houses with no floors or indoor plumbing and very little education to having food available to help feed the rest of the world, and floors and indoor plumbing being an expectation, and having schools that generated the most educated populace in the world.  That was done due to our freedom and the ability to create.

Now days, you can’t create without a permit!  Sure some people will say that we need to protect the environment, the neighbors, etc., but really we already had those laws in place with our Common Law and the Bible which says “Love your neighbor as yourself” and “…do onto others as you would have done onto you.”  Really those two statements about sums it all up!  All the extra laws that have been put on the books restrict our liberty and essentially make everyone a criminal because of the silly notion of “Ignorance of the law is no excuse.”  This is silly because how can anyone know all of the laws that we have on the books these days?  As long as a person uses reasonable judgment and no intention of harming another person or their property, then he should be allowed to do it.  As for the subjectivity of “reasonable judgment,” that is the original purpose of the Trial by Jury.  If you read about our original government and the court system, you will see that it was really all addressed from the start and that in the last two hundred years we have royally messed things up!  We have taken all of the responsibility away from juries and judges and individuals and we have given it to the government, which is what the American Revolution originally fought against.

I could go on for a long time about this and cite many other examples, such as “mandatory sentencing” which is one of the worst things that we have done to our judicial system.  However, you should be getting the idea and it is really best if you educate yourself on these things.  My goal is for more people to begin to wake-up and start correcting the world around us.  As soon as people recognize that we are all free or as the Founding Fathers would say, “Sovereign Beings,” the government loses its control over us and we will be able to return to our full potential and make the most of the world around us.

Happy New Year!!!

Alright, I know that if you need this advice you have probably already heard all sorts of hang over advice already, but here is what I have to share.  It is definitely best to expel the product that will cause the hangover as soon as you realize that you have overindulged.  You may not care to hear this, but vomit is the best thing for you if you have had too much to drink.  No seriously, medically it is the best thing for you to do.  By expelling the unprocessed alcohol from your system, your body has the opportunity to start its recovery, that much sooner.  While you may not be immediately prepared to ingest water and Vitamin I (Ibuprofen), the sooner you are able the quicker you will recover.

Be sure to have a room or at least a dependable designated driver, because it is no longer like the old days when you were pulled over and the police officer tested everyone in the car, agreed with your original assessment on who was the most sober and sent you on your way.  (But that’s another story.)

For the day after your excess consumption, the best option is to go spelunking.  From lots of experience, I can tell you that there is nothing better than to crawl into a dark, cool, wet hole in the ground and just crawl around until you feel more like joining the rest of the world.  In the US, the eastern caves with plenty of water and mud are the preferred type of cave for this recovery; however the dry western caves are much better on your clothes, if you plan to keep them.  As an alternative, I have also learned that low impact camping in cool, overcast and rainy weather can be almost as good as a good cave.

Well good luck and I will talk to you later!

Learn from experience

It is New Year’s Eve, so time for a little fun, wrapping up the year.  I always look at everything as a learning opportunity and not so long ago, I had an experience that I learned from.  So here is a warning!

Be careful how you respond at a party!  When approaching your company Christmas Party and as you walk through the parking lot you hear, “Hey Terry, over here!”  Be sure to proceed with caution.  Especially if as you approach the crowd, you see mason jars being held out to you and hear, “You have to try this!”  Be sure to remember that a single mason jar is not the same as a single serving.  Take your time and if possible a smaller glass.  Consider mixing with other less alcoholic drinks.  Because it doesn’t matter how rough the day/week has been, filling an empty beer bottle and then coming back an hour later for the rest of the jar, is not recommended.  Especially when you are drinking it straight.  At least I was a happy drunk!

More on my beliefs

Below is a link to rather long article, that matches well with what I have always read in the Bible.  I found this while browsing the internet and I am glad that the Tao helped me to find it.  While I have always leaned toward very similar interpretations, I have never taken the time to detail out the reasoning, the way that has been done in this article.  Maybe this can help you understand how I am a Catholic, Christian, Taoist, Anarchist, Capitalist, and Libertarian who greatly respects God.

Since my early twenties, I have preferred Freedom and Anarchy to any government and have always sided with the most strictly limited Constitutional Republic, because it is the best government know in history.  Take a read if you like and sometime maybe I will discuss pieces of this with my thoughts more:  http://www.notbeinggoverned.com/jesus-anarchist/

So, what is a Taoist? First, the Tao is pronounced Dao and is sometimes spelled this way.

The Tao te Ching is from ancient Chinese text, specifically associated with Tibet, but I am not the history expert, so I would like to change the direction of this discussion. Simply stated, the Tao is the universal force that runs through the entire universe. Speaking of “Force,” I first read the Tao te Ching because of my interest in Star Wars and was intrigued with the Jedi study of “The Force.” While serving in the Army, my dog tags actually listed “Jedi” as my religion.

However, from my current perspective, the Tao is not a religion. I do attend church regularly and appreciate the lessons that I learn from the Bible. Taoism is more of a philosophy. There is more information that you can read, than I could ever cover here, so I will keep this relatively short. When I was in my early 20’s I read the Tao te Ching, The Tao of Pooh, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and many other books on the Tao, Zen and other topics. Now days you can find plenty of information on-line and you may enjoy, “…You Might Be A Taoist” which is a spin-off of “…you might be a redneck” by Jeff Foxworthy. This site does a humorous explanation, which is usually the best, from my stand point. Take a look and I will share more later. But before you go, here is a quote from another site and I would only change this saying by replacing the words “some wine” with “from a mason jar.”

"Where Zen and Buddhism will say the truth, enlightenment, and so on can be reached through dedicated meditation and practice, a Tao master may sip some wine, fart, and go to sleep." from Daily Cup of Tao
